Protection against user security is a serious concern that instant messaging service providers can not easily abandoned. Including freshly made by WhatsApp.
Facebook’s service was recently provide encryption features end-to-end message in the application. This feature has a fairly high level of security when compared with its competitors.
In fact, the level of safety can be said to be equivalent to those used by companies such as Google, Microsoft, and Apple.
Actually, there are some applications with encryption features end-to-end on the market, such as Cryptocat, Silent Text, iMessage and Telegram. However WhatApp is the only one that has a number of users in over 600 million people.
With encryption end-to-end, the WhatsApp no longer able to read any messages sent by users. Even law enforcement would not be able to ask WhatsApp to decrypt it. The messages can only be read by the recipient.
To apply this feature, since 6 months ago WhatsApp holding Open Whisper Systems, formerly known as Signal application developers, Redphone, and TextSecure.
This encryption feature is only available for WhatsApp on Android devices. And unfortunately they have not announced when this feature will be available on other platforms like iOS and Windows Phone.
