The key system pattern (pattern lock Red) which is still used by millions of users of Android it can be cracked easily enough. If you are one of the Android users who rely on the pattern lock, it’s good you have to replace it to a more secure – PIN or fingerprint.
Some researchers succeeded in developing a device that could ‘catch’ the finger movements and predict the patterns used to unlock the phone.
Remarkably, this software is able to break the pattern lock just smartphone users in at least 5 times the trial without looking at the phone screen directly.
Based on reports from PhysOrg, this study was conducted by researchers from several universities such as, Lancaster University, China’s Northwest University, and the University of Bath.
When developed, the research team developing the software to be able to recognize hand gestures and can be fitted to any Android device.
When installed, this software will utilize the device’s camera to capture the hand movements when the users will be able to unlock your Android device.
Later, the data captured by the camera will be run through an algorithm that will generate some predictions of patterns that can be used to open the Android device.
Interestingly, the more complex the pattern lock is used, the easier will be the pattern lock burglarized. Of the 120 key pattern tested randomly, the software is able to break 95 percent of devices were tested only five tries.
If you’re worried about your lock pattern capable compromised, there are several ways that you can anticipate intervenes to protect themselves, such as closing your finger while drawing the pattern.
As an initial precaution, you can adjust adjust screen brightness when going to open the phone to ‘trick’ cameras that record.
Surely there are other ways that you can use, such as using finger scanner or iris scanner – if you have an Android device.
